Tasting Room Associate at our Seneca Falls location

Montezuma Winery & Hidden Marsh Distillery is accepting applications for friendly and outgoing individuals to join our fun and creative team!

We are located in Seneca Falls, NY at the tip of Cayuga Lake. Our tasting room offers tastings, wine & spirits to purchase, homemade fudge, and a gift shop.

Experience in sales and wine a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing excellent customer service to all visitors
  • Must be willing to learn about wine and share knowledge through informal presentation.
  • Process wine sales through Point of Sale system
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the tasting room and all public areas of the store.
  • Confidently working alone and with a team to provide a great customer experience.

Requirements:

  • Flexible schedule, available to work weekends.
  • Must be 18+ years old
  • Have a positive upbeat personality
  • Must be able to lift 40-50 pounds frequently
  • Able to stand and walk for long periods of time

Assistant Winemaker 

Montezuma Winery is seeking a full-time Assistant Winemaker to join our production team. The Assistant Winemaker will work in a hands-on capacity under the direction of the Winemaker and will participate in all aspects of wine production. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience making a wide variety of products in a face-paced production environment.

Qualified Candidates will be passionate about quality winemaking and eager to learn all aspects of winemaking.

 

Duties:
Assists the winemaker in all aspects of the wine production including but not limited to:
– Fruit/juice reception and processing
– Laboratory analysis
– Wine and juice movement
– Fermentation management
– Making additions to wine and juice
– Filtration
– Centrifugation
– Packaging
– Supervision and training of winery staff
– Development of the adherence to standard operating procedures
– Development of the adherence to safety protocols
– Sensory evaluation of wines in progress and bench trials
– Maintenance, cleaning, and sanitation of winery equipment
– Maintenance, cleaning, and sanitation of production facility
– Tracking and reporting inventory of winemaking materials
– Transport of equipment, product, and vessels with forklift
– Public relations, when necessary
– Knowledge and Skills Required
Associates degree (A.A./A.S) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education experience.
Certificates and licenses:
– Valid Driver’s License
– Forklift certification

Tasting Room Manager 

Montezuma Winery -Seneca Falls is seeking an energetic and responsible individual to manage the tasting room. The tasting room manager has overall responsibility for directing the daily operations of the winery, ensuring compliance with company standards in all areas of operation, wine sales, customer relations, facility management, inventory management, team management, recruiting and retention of team members, financial accountability, ensuring that the highest quality products and services are delivered to each customer.

Primary job functions include but not limited to:

Managing all customer service aspects relating to tasting room operations

  • Ensures quality and 100% customer satisfaction
  • Maintenance of wine inventory level for retail and tasting purposes
  • General upkeep of tasting room
  • Ensures maintenance of equipment, facilities, and grounds through the use of preventative maintenance program
  • Display of inventory and wine
  • Coordinates and executes off-premise tasting and events

Leads all aspects of team member management

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains team members
  • Conducts performance reviews, manages discipline, and motivates the team
  • Has authority to hire and fire
  • Champions recognition and motivation efforts
  • Ensures a safe working and customer experience environment by facilitating safe work behaviors of the team.

Responsible for financial results of the tasting room

  • Tracks daily tasting room sales, tasting volumes, and batch management
  • Ensure efficient operations, appropriate cost controls, and profit management
  • Controls day-to-day operations by scheduling employees, ordering supplies, and developing the team
  • Controls profit & loss, by following cash control/security procedures, maintaining inventory, managing employees, reviewing financial reports, and taking appropriate actions.
  • Accountability of cash handling and deposits

Administrative tasks

  • Assist with administrative tasks including but not limited to record-keeping

Perform all duties with the highest standard for quality and cleanliness.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Degree in management/marketing or two years of management experience, including profit & loss responsibility
  • Dedication to providing exceptional customer service
  • Good communication skills and strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Exceptional team building capability
  • Strong business math and accounting skills, and analytical/decision-making skills
  • Basic personal computer literacy including experience with a POS system
  • Ability to lift at least 40lbs

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 – $19.00 per hour

The Assistant Tasting Room Manager will assist the Tasting Room Manager in directing the daily operations of the winery, ensuring compliance with company standards in all areas of operation, wine sales, customer relations, facility management, inventory management, team management, recruiting and retention of team members, financial accountability, ensuring that the highest quality products and services are delivered to each customer.

Manages all customer service aspects relating to tasting room operations:

· Ensures that employees effectively, appropriately, carry out the company’s customer service policies and procedures.

· General upkeep of tasting room

· Ensures maintenance of equipment, facility, and grounds through the use of a preventative maintenance program

· Coordinates and executes off-premise tasting and events

· Monitors company’s general email account and responds to email inquires in a timely manner

Assists in Leading all aspects of Team Member Management

· Networks, Recruits, and interviews potential candidates

· Training of team members

· Manages discipline and motivates the team

· Create and maintain an environment where all staff are treated with dignity and respect, fostering a spirit of teamwork and cooperation

· Ensures a safe working and customer experience environment by facilitating safe work behaviors of the team

Responsible for Financial Results of the tasting room

· Ensure the Tasting room meets or exceed sales and payroll goals, utilizes effective communication, organization, and leadership skills

· Manage store operation procedures with accordance to company guidelines, ensuring accurate inventory procedures and levels, opening and closing procedures, payroll, money handling, and cash control procedures, tracking and reporting of tasting room expenditures, etc.

· Perform all duties with the highest standard for quality and cleanliness

· Maintenance of wine inventory for retail and tasting purposes

· Manage retail general merchandise, inventory levels, and visual displays

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 – $17.00 per hour
